Along with the much anticipated salmon and halibut fishing season, Ninilchik in Alaska is also promoting clam digging this year with the minus tides offering some excellent razor clams. You will just need to confirm the tides before heading off with your bucket to do clam digging.
As far as the King Salmon fishing is concerned, the Deep Creek, Ninilchik River and Anchor River will be open from the Memorial Day Weekend and every Wednesday after that for fishing through to the 18th June 2009. Another plus for the season is that the limit for King Salmon that may be taken from the Anchor River has been increased to 5 per year, while from the Deep Creek it is still at 2 per year. The boundary fishing areas for King Salmon and Halibut has also been increased slightly.
