Alaska provides the most stunning setting for travel at any time of year, and there are tons of national parks that visitors can tour. This means that tour guide jobs, hunting jobs, fishing instructor jobs, and other park jobs are available throughout the state. Below are just some of the magnificent places where you can work when you come to Alaska.
Denali National Park and Preserve
Featuring the highest mountain in North America, Mount McKinley which is 20, 320 feet, Denali National Park also offers various other large mountains and glaciers with more than 6 acres of a wonderful sub arctic eco system. Visitors can see mammals such as grizzly bears, Dall sheep, wolves, and of course moose. In 1976 this park was named an international biosphere reserve. You can find Denali about 240 miles north of Anchorage and can get there via car or using the Denali Park Transportation from town surrounding the park. Inside the park you can travel by car for about 14 miles, and then to get into the other regions of the park including the Eielson Visitors Center, you will need to use the park’s shuttle service. Visitors can enjoy a number of activities while staying here including wildlife and scenic tours, helicopter flights, whitewater rafting, dinner theaters, hikes and more. You can become a guide or instructor for any of these activities at the park.
Wrangell St. Elias National Park
This park boasts the largest collection of glaciers in North America, as well the highest number of 16 000 foot mountains in one area. Mount St. Elias is the second highest mountain in the United States. This park was also proclaimed a World Heritage Site largely due to the popular tourist attraction of the old Kennicott Copper Mine. There are various wonderful and rustic lodges to stay at when you visit the park and from the visitors centre you can embark on a number of exciting outdoor activities. Working at this park would be amazing and you can not only take part in these activities every day, but lead groups as well. Visitors can go mountaineering, hiking, hunting, fishing, rafting, jetboating, and more. There are also lots of Alaska tour jobs of animals including bison, black bear, brown bear, caribou, and mountain goats.
Kenai Fjords National Park
This is one of the most beautiful of the national parks with glaciers and crystal waters. The marine life here is amazing with humpback and orca whales, sea lions, otters, porpoises, puffins, and kittiwakes making up most of the viewing. The quaint town of Seward is the gateway to the park and most visitors arrive here from the cruise ships. You can find lots of jobs on cruise liners that come here and once you land, you can become a tour guide or instructor for the park. You can also work in the town as a barman, waiter, and more. The activities that you can be a part of include sea kayaking, taking small cruise tours in and around the fjords, and skiing in the winter months, as well as horse riding from Seward. The Kenai Fjords National Park also provides some of the best game fishing spots in Alaska.
Glacier Bay National Park
Glacier Bay is located 60 miles from the capital of Juneau with the closest town being that of Gustavus. This park covers more than 3 million acres offering ideal working conditions and career opportunities including fishing in the freshwater and salt water regions, game-viewing, kayaking, bird-viewing, boat tours, mountaineering and more.
