On a small charter, during the Homer (Alaska) Halibut Derby, a Grand Rapids man, Mark Hilts caught the biggest fish so far of the season weighing in at 273.2 Pounds. The notoriously dangerous waters in Alaska were where 4 fishermen found themselves clinging to a lifeboat after their vessel, the 52 foot long Nakat, caught fire just off the coast of Sitkinak Island on Sunday morning just before 8:30 as they were long lining for halibut.
