New hopeful to become the leader of the Labour Party in the UK, Andy Burnham has proposed to end unpaid internships lasting longer than 3 months. His recently published manifesto states that business along with the former secretary of health would work together to, “end the practice of unpaid internships lasting more than three months”. The manifesto also added that, “All placements should be supported by the national minimum wage at least”.

Burnham said, “The trend towards unpaid work and internships across all sectors and industries is placing the most attractive and powerful jobs beyond the reach of young people with the least means and connections.”

Burnham is also looking into other options that will help students once they have graduated including giving them an extended period of time to pay off student loans to enable them to get unpaid work for a short period to gain experience, whilst eventually securing an internship on minimum wage.

Burnham added to this further by saying, “I will also propose that all work experience, placements and internships be advertised by law so that the opportunities they present are available to all, not just to those in the know”.

This is great news for students who want to gain equal opportunities for work placement and who require payment in order to work. Not all students are able to sustain a job without getting paid and this is the main problem in the UK and indeed across the world. Those who would really benefit from an internship to secure a high paying or excellent job are not able to accept the opportunity because they have to make money. This could be due to the fact that their parents cannot afford to support them, or that they have a costly student loan to pay off.

The best jobs should not just be available to those have more money, which is the main concept behind Burnham’s campaign. The leadership ballot results for the Labour Party will be released on the 25th September.

If you are looking at the internship opportunities that are offers, you will find that many of the best ones are unpaid and this can be disheartening. A law ensuring that long term internships are paid for positions is something that should be looked into in every country around the world.

If you are in search of an internship, there is not just the issue of payment, but you also have to compete with so many other students to get accepted into many of the programs. Some programs only offer 20 places or 30 places and some might just offer 1 or 2, which means that you have to brush up on your job application and interview skills as well as get advice on how to create an amazing resume.

This is something that you will get help with when you become a member on the Internship Finder website. Here you will not only get all the detailed information that you require to get accepted for the best internship opportunities, but you will also be able to search the list of currently available internships and apply right away, so don’t hesitate to join today!

If all goes according to plan, ex airline pilot Richard Ashbrook could get it right to create 50 to 100 aviation jobs at the Clarkesville-Montgomery County Regional Airport. The initiative is something that he has thought about for many years and will focus the airport to handle more corporate aircraft and passengers. The old maintenance hangar already there will be transformed into a flight school, Pilot Center, and restaurant, with 22 new hangars also being built on the grounds.

The proposal sees Ashbrook partner with the current fixed based operator Robert Wyatt to form Sky Aviation which will make a full service FBO and flight school eligible for VA benefits. This is something that is really needed in the area and Ashbrook wants to start by building two new large hangars south of Outlaw Field, one of them being large enough to house a corporate jet. The other 20 hangars will be for smaller planes.

The main aspect to Sky Aviation becoming a reality is funding, but Ashbrook is already working on a business plan to enable him to apply for a Small Business Administration loan with the help of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center. According to Ashbrook, “Dr. (Ronald) Gordon (TSBDC business counselor) says it’s a very strong project and one that is needed here.”

Most of the employment would be in the form of aviation maintenance jobs, but there are also jobs for pilots, trainers and instructors, as well as admin and reception staff, along with restaurant staff. This is a great opportunity to keep your eye on if you hope to get work in aviation maintenance or airport jobs of any kind.

If all goes well, Ashbrook and Wyatt hope to break ground and establish Sky Aviation in the Spring of 2011, which gives you the perfect amount of time to find out all about the different types of airline maintenance jobs there are and to find out what you need to qualify for the jobs that will be on offer. Many of the airport jobs and aviation jobs will require many years of study in engineering, and technical fields, but there are some jobs that you will be able to apply for where very little experience or tertiary education is required.

You can find out more about what jobs these are by visiting Airline Job Finder and becoming a member. Once you are a member you will be able to access the detailed insider information that will really help you when you are looking for aviation maintenance jobs. Aside from getting all the correct information that you could possibly want and need, this website will also help you to apply for jobs with their extensive resume and application guidelines.

Once you have looked at all of these details, you should head on over to the Job Board where you can search through all the latest airline jobs, aviation maintenance jobs, and airport jobs that are currently available to apply for.

Mystery shopping is something that many people think of as a part time job, or just a way to make extra cash, but there are ways that you can go about getting hired by certain companies so that you can make mystery shopping a full time job. It does not have to be just another scam or money making scheme, but an actual way to make a living. Here are some tips on how you can get hired as a mystery shopper to earn a good amount of money:

Look Out for Scams

As you will find in any industry, there are scams, and because mystery shopping is generally focused on the stay-at-home mom or the retired consumer, scammers try to take advantage. You should be very careful about scams when you start out looking for mystery shopping work and don’t just go for the first opportunity that you come across. A good way to find the legitimate mystery shopping jobs is to contact the Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA). They will have a list of the best possible options as far as joining a company goes.

Find Big Mystery Shopping Providers

Using the MSPA you will be able to find out which the most popular providers are and which ones are the largest offering the biggest paychecks and the most amount of work. Remember that mystery shoppers of all ages, races, education levels, sexes, and geographic locations are required, so find out where you are needed the most and where you can benefit the most. You don’t have to be affiliated with just one provider either. Join as many of the large companies as possible to establish a good career.

Keep a Schedule

If you are planning on making mystery shopping or secret shopping a full time career, then you should run it like a business. Keep a schedule of the assignments you have and make sure that you never double book yourself for an assignment with two different companies. Keep track of your assignments and yourself time to give accurate reports.

Be Honest and Impartial

Mystery shopping requires that you have an impartial attitude and the ability to be honest. You will have to be objective in your assessment of the store you visit and the staff members. Attention to detail is important, as you will have to detail everything you saw and experienced in your report. Companies need mystery shoppers so that they can make certain decisions about their stores, so all your work should be done with pride and returned on time with excellent notes making sure that all instructions were followed precisely. Being a good mystery shopper means that you will get hired more often and can therefore turn a part time hobby into a full time job.

Be Professional

Aside from following instructions to the tee and being precise in your assessments, you will have to also learn to conduct yourself in a professional manner when you are carrying out your assignment in the store. There is no need for overly agnostic behavior and conducting yourself with a bad attitude to try and get the staff to make mistakes. You just have to be an ordinary customer. You should not give away that you are a mystery shopper either. Just pretend that you are out shopping as normal. This will see that you get lots of mystery shopping job opportunities.

To find out more about the types of mystery shopping jobs that you can get, scams to avoid, and to find companies that are hiring right now, check out Mystery Shopper Job Finder and become a member!

Various community colleges located across Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania are preparing students to become prospective employees in the Marcellus Shale gas industry which is booming at the moment, through a placement, recruitment and training program offered by Marcellus ShaleNET. The program is being run thanks to the US Department of Labor who invested $4.96 million into the project.

The natural gas is buried deep within shale rock that can only be reached by the modern technologies that many gas companies now have using horizontal drilling techniques. This requires 400 people to operate the drilling of a single well, with over 150 occupations covered. This means that now is the ideal time to look for natural gas jobs. Currently most of the workers employed on the gas rigs are from outside the region as they have more experienced, which is why the training program has been established to encourage residents to gain the high standards of training required, so that they can get more of the available gas jobs.

Across the 69 counties, the two community colleges of Westmoreland Country Community College and the Pennsylvania College of Technology will become the two bases for the coordination of the training program for those interested in working in the gas industry. A comprehensive system has been created to match potential employees with employers and the aim is to forge a united workforce and other partnerships in the Marcellus Shale project.

Member of the bipartisan Congressional Natural Gas Caucus, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy said, “The greater Pittsburgh region holds a key for releasing America from foreign oil dependence with the Marcellus Shale natural gas play. In addition to being one of the cleaner energy sources that’s important to a balanced, environmentally sound energy portfolio, this natural gas resource is equally important as a job creator in our region.”

The CEO and President of EQT Corp, David Porges added, “We believe that the industry will be hiring thousands of individuals in the foreseeable future to support responsible natural gas extraction. At EQT, we unquestionably want to fill those jobs with individuals who call Appalachia home.” He believes that the Marcellus ShaleNET program is instrumental in developing the large local workforce to compete for these jobs.

The initial aim of the program is to place low income locals in the six high-demand occupations, namely rotary drill, derrick, and service unit operators; brazing and welding operators; roustabouts; and truck drivers.

If you want to find out more about what the oil and gas jobs can offer you, including salary information, working conditions, working hours and more, all you have to do is visit Oil Job Finder and become a member. You will have access to detailed insider information, and you will also learn about the latest job openings in the oil and gas industry. You can look through the database of oil and gas companies to work for and keep an eye on the Job Board for regular updates of jobs that you can apply for. As a member you will be able to get help with developing an excellent resume and get advice on filling in application forms for oil and gas jobs.

According to statistics released by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the cruise industry is looking up for the 2010 season since the recession which started subsiding towards the end of 2009. The 2009 year saw over 313,998 cruise ship jobs created which paid salaries and wages to the total of $14.23 billion. Last year’s gross output was $35.1 billion, which made a good impact on the US economy despite the global recession.

The US accounted for 66 percent of the total cruise passengers with Florida being the most popular port for embarking on cruises. Most states saw an increased cruise line spending correlating directly to the number of passengers, but due to the redirection of some cruise ships, Alaska, and Hawaii were the only two areas that experienced a decline.

“We are encouraged, not only by signs that a turnaround is in progress, but also by the industry’s history of out-performing other tourism sectors and even the national economy,” said Terry Dale, the CLIA President and CEO.

Even though the gross output was a 12.8 percent decrease from the year before, Dale suggests that if you put this into historic perspective, the cruise industry still outperforms the travel and tourism sector, and the national economy as it has done for the last decade. In fact, between 2000 and 2008 the cruise industry expenditure has increased by 85 percent.

The global recession challenges of 2009 were met by CLIA members with enthusiasm, as they reduced prices and offered incentives for cruise passengers and due to this the net capacity increased by 3.8 percent (this is the number of available bed days).

Aside from this the number of passengers who cruised in 2009 increased by 4.8 percent, showing signs of a strong consumer market.

So far, 2010 has been showing positive signs, with revenue yields up for the first time since 2008. There are also reports of increased numbers of booking for the second half of the year as opposed to the same time last year.

If you want to find out more about what it is like to work on a cruise ship and learn about the brand new liners that are taking to the seas, visiting Cruise Job Finder. Here you can become a member and learn about the plethora of cruise jobs that you can apply for. Some require experience and qualifications, while some are available for students and those just out of college.

It is the ideal way to travel around the world and earn a great salary with benefits at the same time. There are exciting opportunities with many of the cruise companies that can station you on various different ships in their fleet so that you can get the most of your cruise job experience.

With so many options, you should take the time to go through the different job descriptions on the website and make sure you check on the Job Board regularly for the latest cruise liner job openings. You can get details of how to apply and find out more about the best possible employers to work for on the website when you become a member.

Alaska has always had a competitive job market, but in July the unemployment rate fell to the lowest percentage at 7.7 which is also far below the national average. According to economist Neal Fried, this rate is largely due to Alaska’s seasonal jobs and small economy. The unemployment rate is usually averaged at 9.5 percent for July.

The great news for Alaska job seekers is that you are pretty much guaranteed to find work when you come to Alaska, especially in the fishing industry where crew are highly sought after for the large fishing seasons, namely in Salmon, Crab, and others.

July and August are traditionally the seasons for the Salmon fisheries to start full production, and King Crab in the Aleutian Islands. This gives job seekers a brilliant opportunity to get in on the high paying fishing jobs in harvesting and seafood processing. The unemployment rate is down from 8.1 last year, which is not really a huge difference, but it shows that people are starting to hire again, and according to Fried, having such a low rate below the national average is rare.

Alaska not only offers excellent fishing opportunities during July and August, but you will also find that there are plenty of other high paying jobs in the summer tourism industry in Alaska. Summer months in Alaska are where you will find jobs in game reserves, lodges, and towns where tourists flock to take in the beautiful surroundings. You can find jobs as tour guides, game fishing instructors, horseback riding guides, and more. You can even work in restaurants and local hotels in the hospitality department where jobs are in demand quite regularly during the summer months and where there are not always enough locals to work.

You should look at the various Alaska jobs that you can get by visiting Alaska Job Finder and joining as a member. You will then be able to get detailed information about all the different jobs in Alaska which are high paying and readily available including salary information, working hours, working conditions and where you are most likely to secure these jobs.

The website also contains a database of employers in Alaska ready to hire for any type of industry, including fishing and hospitality or tourism. This will give you an indication of where you can find work when you get to Alaska, or what companies you should approach. Alternatively, you can keep checking the Job Board regularly for actual jobs that are posted that meet your qualifications.

You will get instructions on how to create a great looking resume and application form which you can then use to approach the various companies searching for employees at any particular time. Jobs in Alaska are being filled readily, and as you can see from the unemployment rate being at an all time low, Alaska is ready to cash in on this summer’s tourism and fishing industries, so why not be part of it?

The oil sands project is about to get a boost as a new pipeline, the Keystone XL Pipeline, awaits approval for transporting heavy crude oil at Shell Albian Sands near Fort McMurray. This will mean a huge amount of new gas jobs for the United States. The oil sands project has been running for many years now, providing the country with plenty of oil jobs and gas jobs. The new pipeline will help to alleviate some of the pressure from the project by moving the heavy crude oil from the Canadian tarsands, south to the Gulf of Mexico where there are refineries being planned. This pipeline spans 9600 km, but could be stopped by various groups.

On the one side of the equation, those hungry for oil jobs and gas jobs are eager for the pipeline to be built, but environmentalists on the other side are against the pipeline, especially after the huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico just recently. Aside from this well reported oil disaster, another one is also fresh in the minds of environmentalists when a 60 year old pipeline burst in Michigan, letting Canadian oil spill out into a 65 km stretch of Kalamazoo River.

Politicians have also been outspoken when it comes to the tarsands, saying that it will just increase the carbon footprint which they are trying so hard to eradicate. Henry Waxman, the Democratic Representative, said, “We’re making a multi-million-dollar investment to expand our reliance on the dirtiest source of transportation fuel currently available. I think that’s a step in the wrong direction.”

Jobs, however, is the main reason for the pipeline being pushed ahead. It will mean a completely new way for oil and gas to be delivered around the continent and thousands of new jobs in the process. The first stage of the Keystone project when it began, showed that along with the 400 000 barrels of crude oil it shipped per day, it also provided 18 thousand high paying oil jobs for the United States.

This new Keystone pipeline, the XL will double the amount of crude oil being transported and see more and more jobs being available in the United States. However, the alliance between Canadian workers, American farmers, the US State Department, and the US Environmental Protection Agency has brought the Keystone Pipeline XL project to a halt for now as they look at the viability of the project for serving the interests of both the US and Canada.

While it may be some time before you can enjoy oil jobs at this pipeline, there are various other oil jobs and gas jobs that you can apply for in other parts of the world. All you have to do is visit Oil Job Finder and you will be able to find out about the different oil jobs and gas jobs that you can get as well as what qualifications you need to apply for them. Once you become a member you will have access to the latest jobs openings that are listed on the Job Board that you can apply for.

If you ask any basketball coach, football coach, or other athletic head, they will tell you that the trick to a successful team is commitment and dedication, not just during the sport’s season, but all year round. If you hope to get better at a certain sport, then you should be training even when you do not have to be. This is one thing that the Glen Ridge High basketball team along with 24 other schools have held very close as they took part in a Newark Summer Academy during July. These teams have all decided to stay fit and keep their eye on the prize coming into the 2010/2011 basketball season.

There is also a Farleigh Dickinson University-Teaneck’s Team Camp this week held, which the Ridger’s head Liam Carr wants the squad to participate in. It is true that most of these high school athletes juggle other sports as well – in the Ridger’s team, all three captains are committed to other sports besides basketball, but Carr is happy that they are at least doing something to keep fit and focused.

This coming season, starting in November is very important for the Ridger’s as they will be trying to replace the senior leadership of Glen Ridge High’s most recent graduates. The younger players will be getting used to the pace of Varsity basketball, whilst the returning players will all be vying for the new positions that will be available. Carr is relying on the three captains to take the initiative and lead the team to victory.

The summer programs and additional training, might get one thinking that the squad is being overworked – on the contrary, fitness experts believe that continuous training during the off season will strengthen players, improve individuals’ games, and reduce injury. The summer is a long time without sport and even though most athletes do participate in other sport activities during the summer, there are those who don’t. They get unfit, uncoordinated, and begin to slack. In a country where sport means so much and where scholarships are the main aim for most college hopefuls, it is best to keep fit during summer in any way necessary. This is where coaches like Carr have it spot on.

Any sports career that you hope to enter into will be filled with potential stars that will run you right off the court if you are not fast enough, strong enough, or fit enough. This is why you always have to be one step ahead of your game all the time. Sports jobs are tough, because you are not just expected to play the game you have chosen, but you have to play all year round, whether it is the same sport or not just to keep your body and mind focused.

Fitness professionals can also help you with training in the off season, but as Carr pointed out, the team play that you get from going on a camp or playing in an academy is far superior to that of sitting alone in a gym. You need to feel the energy, play for real and bond as a team to be the best.

On the 13th August 2010, there will be a job fair held in New Paltz where a group of Solar Energy Companies will be looking to fill about 100 high tech jobs. The Solar Energy Consortium will be held at the Terrace Restaurant at the New Paltz University Campus, where together with the Labor Department, and various employment offices, the 12 companies taking part will be screening the best candidates for the jobs and offering training.

Specific green jobs are going to be offered, so if you want to apply, you will have to register with your closest Office of Employment and Training as well as the Department of Labor before the fair. The companies that you will get the chance to work for include: Employers include Axio Power, Fala Technologies, IBM, Farm To Table Co-packers, Precision Flow Technologies, Selux, Prism Solar Technologies, SpectraWatt, Veeco, Solartech Renewables, SunMaxx, and Taylor Recycling.

The job fair will aid these companies in getting a good, strong workforce right from the get-go, to enable them to move forward in their solar energy plans for the area. As the entire world is looking towards the future with “green” in mind, this is the ideal opportunity for those of you who want to earn a decent salary working to help the world and the environment.

Technology jobs span a huge sector, and many people do not think of solar energy companies offering high tech jobs, but for building cells and finding new and improved ways to harness the sun’s energy, high tech is definitely the word to describe it. The job fair is going to be open from 9am to 3pm, so make sure that you get your details together and that you are registered, and go there ready to make a difference.

While these high tech jobs, might not pay exceptionally high salaries at the moment, you are in a very good position to work your way up and eventually get to the stage where you can earn a higher salary. Green technology is the next “big thing” and to this end, more and more jobs related to green technology will be being demanded. If you get in now, you will be in a great position financially and career wise.

Solar Energy is one of the fastest growing green technologies and according to Vincent Cozzolino, co-CEO of the TSEC consortium, “Our industry partners are gaining momentum, and we’re very glad to help them find the right people to join their growing organizations.”

If you want to find out more about high technology jobs, or any other kinds of technology jobs including engineering jobs and IT jobs, then you should visit the 100K Job Finder website. Here you will not only learn about technology jobs that pay a high salary of over 100K, but various other professionals like healthcare, marketing, aviation, law, and finance all offer positions where you can expect a top paying salary.

Some of these jobs do even require you to have a formal degree of any kind. You can find out all about these jobs and learn how to apply by becoming a member of the website today!
