The newest edition to the Cunard fleet, the Queen Elizabeth, is on track for its maiden voyage in October. Designed with the distinct art deco feel of the 30’s and 40’s, the Queen Elizabeth is beginning to take shape inside, where the Britannia dining room’s staircase and the Kew Garden’s inspired garden lounge are almost complete.

The games deck is spacious and will provide the more traditional pastimes of croquet, bowls, and even paddle tennis. Following along the lines of all Cunard’s ships, the Queen Elizabeth will also have its own Golden Lion authentic English style pub. Even though this ship will be different from the other ships in its fleet, Cunard felt that keeping the popular pub was a must for all their loyal passengers.

The rooms range from inside cabin and ocean view rooms to the balcony and luxury suites, where the grand style of 1930’s and 40’s will leave you feeling relaxed and pampered. Cunard will offer free daily newspaper delivery to each suite as well as an assortment of fresh fruit each day. You will also get complimentary sparkling wine on your arrival.

The Queen Elizabeth can carry 2092 passengers and for its much anticipated maiden voyage, these spaces were sold out in the first 30 minutes of the cruise going on sale. The maiden voyage will be 13 nights long, with the Queen Elizabeth travelling to Spain, and out towards the Canary Islands, after which a world cruise of 103 nights is planned for January 2011, where the ship will visit 23 countries in total.
