During 2009, the cruise company Costa Crociere from Italy, introduced the largest of their fleet, Costa Pacifica to the cruise industry. This luxury cruise liner is one of the largest in the world, with a capacity of up to 3800 passengers. It docked for the first time in Tunisia last Thursday (11th June 2009), which is where it will make its weekly stops.

Costa Crociere is expecting more than 190 000 visitors to Tunisia during the 2009 season, which will be a 30 percent increase from 2008.
