With the recession people have put aside fancy sports and energy drink and have opted to just drink water. However, Pepsi Co. and its team of sports product reps and marketers is coming to the rescue of its struggling brand, Gatorade, by making an investment $30 million. This will help to boost the brand and create more awareness for the sports energy drink which still endorses golfer Tiger Woods, even though most of his sponsors have backed out. Before the Tiger Woods debacle, Gatorade discontinued its Tiger Woods line and opted for a few changes in the product.

Gatorade will not contain high fructose corn syrup any longer which is fattening and will instead contain sugar and other sweeteners. Although the recession has hit Gatorade hard with a 14 percent drop in sales during the first 9 months of 2009, it is still the most popular sports drink on the market. To improve sales and re launch the brand, Gatorade are releasing the new “G-Series” which was developed with the help of sports stars, Serena Williams and Usain Bolt.

Looking at this new sports drink line, other sports products are also being promoted like the Title Sports Drink by Blue Gem, which has just hit the shelves. The sales and marketing teams behind the launch of each of these products is a hard working and large one. If you are looking for a career in sports, you need not aim for the sports field or coaching.

If you have an ability to sell and market effectively, then you can easily use your knowledge and love of sports to work in the sports product rep industry to promote products like the new Gatorade.
