Thanks to an acquisition of Hydra-Sports, a boating manufacture company, Master Craft, maker of recreational power boating, ski, wakeboard, and other luxury is offering between 50 and 100 jobs in its Vonore facility in Tennessee. During the worst part of the recession last year, lots of workers were let go, but thanks to the strengthening economy, they have been able to recall most of them and they plan to offer new sports manufacture jobs in the near future.
According to the marketing director of Master Craft, Jason Boertjie, they are still getting to know how the business of Hydra-Sports works, and are getting to know the sales, engineering, marketing, and sales aspects in depth before any final decisions can be made. They have been interested in Hydra-Sports for a long time though, and are focusing on the quality of the products, and on keeping their demographic line and reputation intact.
Currently Master Craft rehired about 175 workers in July 2009, whilst another 53 were recalled to their positions during November and December 2009. The workforce was at 650 in the Vonore plant prior to the slowing down of production and the job cut backs, but it is hoped that these levels of employment will be reached again soon.
