The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has recently rented out its empty maintenance building which was previously rented out by Mesaba Airlines. This building in 125 thousand square feet, and will now be home to an aircraft repair shop branch of Pemco World Air Services offering 300 aviation maintenance jobs in the process. This company has been working on jets for 50 years and told the media that CVG airport is a perfect location for their new branch as it is central and served by most of the nation’s leading carriers.
A contract has been signed for 15 years with tax breaks offered for job creation which are still to be approved by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority. There will also be breaks on the rent for the first year. This will involve minimum rates based on revenue for the first 6 months and then a capped rent for the second 6 of the first year.
The airport has also just announced its new twice daily route schedule between Toronto and CVG on Jazz the regional subsidiary of Canada Air. The introduction of a new carrier is the first in Cincinnati in 6 years and the initial flight successfully carrying 39 people to Cincinnati, with 23 passengers on the return flight to Toronto.
