Becoming a Sports Presenter

Working in the media side of sports may seem like a slightly more glamorous profession than most of the others that are associated with sports. You need to speak clearly and intelligently about sports, you must have a friendly and warm voice with an obvious passion for the sports you are talking about, because if the audience can hear that you are just reciting something you have read or memorized, you will not last very long. As far as qualifications go, you should have a degree in sports journalism from a reputable college or university, and you can also benefit from a degree in media and television, radio broadcasting, English, writing, communications, and more. To get an edge when you audition to be a radio sports host, or sports television presenter, you will also benefit from taking a professional voice artist course which will teach you microphone technique, clear speech, and learn how to use your voice to the best of its ability.

One of the pros of being a sport presenter is the opportunity you get to travel all over the world to cover major sporting events such as the Olympic Games, golf championships, or tennis opens. The cons include the long hours that you have to put it. It is not just the time you are in front of the camera or in the studio that you work, but you are also doing research and preparing the following days shows.
