Three Pitching Jobs Available for the Florida Marlins

in Sports Jobs

The Florida Marlins Baseball team is busy looking for new pitchers for the new season. The number 2 spot has already gone to Ricky Nolasco, with the three other pitching jobs being contended for by 6 other top pitchers which went a combined 28-34 last year. One of the front runners, Chris Volstad, said that there would be some strong competition and that would make everyone pitch their best.

Along with ace starter Josh Johnson, the Marlins expect to have a great season and hope to get excellent 3-4- and 5 pitchers who can be consistent and keep up with the 1 and 2 pitchers. The contenders for the remaining pitching spots include Volstad, Rick VandenHurk, Anibal Sanchez, Hayden Penn, Sean West, and Andrew Miller. They will be put through their paces by the new Marlins pitching coach, Randy St Claire, and along with manager, Fredi Gonzalzes, they will sort which players have been selected for the three spots.

Each of the pitchers contending for these great jobs is under the age of 25 and each of them are heralded in their own right in the minor leagues, but now it is time for them to show what they can do. According to Larry Beinfest, the President of baseball operations for the Florida Marlins, they have a slightly larger budget this year and instead of rotation, Beinfest decided that the $40 million would be better spent on the new talent of up and coming pitchers.
