The load factor is the percentage of paying passengers occupying the available seats. They were also on time more often during the past year, jumping from 70.2 percent to 87.2 percent. The airline also reported that the number of revenue passenger miles increased from 1.56 billion in March 2009 to 1.65 billion, which means it has risen by 5.8 percent. British Airways are busy building an energy plant that hopes to produce jet fuel out of wastage and this is expected to create up to 1200 airline jobs within the first 2 years. BA says that the plant, to be located in east London, will produce two percent of the amount of fuel needed to fly from London Heathrow, whilst from London City it will produce twice the amount. There are 500 000 tons of waste that can be used every year to make about 16 million gallons of fuel.
