At least 200 new cruise ship jobs could be created in Galway Harbor in Ireland, beginning in the year 2013. The Galway Harbor company has €120 million plans for a deepwater Harbor development for cruise ships north of the Marina. In 2009 The Marina was recently upgraded for the Volvo Ocean race, now they are planning to host the largest cruise liners in the world. Executives from all the major cruise companies are visiting Galway Bay this month during the Galway Oyster Festival. They will visit various destinations in the West, including the Cliffs of Moher, and will listen to various presentations given about the tourism of the region and the potential for cruise liners to visit.

The Chief Executive of Galway Harbor Company even Bradshaw will give a presentation on the development of the Harbor plans on 23rd September. He also commented, “It’s a sector we really feel we can tap into and create at least 200 new jobs from. Galway Bay is famously scenic, and cruise passengers could disembark and be in a city streetscape within minutes.”

The planning application will be launched soon, and it is hoped that the construction will begin in 2013, following a hearing next year. By introducing an internationally recognized harbor here, it is hoped that business will boom, just as it has a in the port of Cork. This brings about €50 million to the southern region every year.

The delegation of cruise ship representatives will attend a dinner when they arrive in Shannon on Friday, 23 September. The next day they will visit the Cliffs of Moher and other attractions and then visit the Oyster Festival at Galway Harbor. Cruise companies like Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise lines Azamara and Crystal Cruises are all expected to be part of the delegation. They involve the trip on the Sunday after seeing all the presentations and spending time on the city’s High Street and Quay Street. So far this year, three cruise liners have visited the Galway Bay area and brought various passengers into the city. So far next year, seven cruise liners are booked.

With so much interest being shown in Galway Bay, and the huge developments taking place in the Harbor, several cruise ship jobs onshore and offshore are expected to be filled. To find out more about the different kinds of cruise liner jobs available, take a look at the Cruise Job Finder website and become a member. This website goes into detail about salary expectations, working conditions and hours, and what to expect in general, living on board a cruise liner.

There is also detailed information about the different types of shore based cruise line jobs which involve admin office duties, instructor jobs, and shore excursion managers. With the large number of passengers expected to visit Galway Bay in the near future, it is expected that the job growth in the area will also improve. To take advantage of this opportunity, and many others like it make sure you read more about it on the Cruise Job Finder site and start applying for jobs today.

After choosing Vancouver as their departure point, Disney Cruises has decided to give runner up, Seattle, another chance and will change the point of departure in 2012, offering plenty of cruise ship positions in the process. Out of 18 cruises, 14 of them, aboard the Disney Wonder, will leave from the Port of Seattle. The change of plan is partly due to Seattle receiving the highest volumes of cruise tourism over the last few months, but mainly due to the lower costs and convenience of having the Sea Tac International Airport run by the Port as well. Although, Disney did not go in the specifics of their decision, Seattle’s Port representative claimed that these are the apparent reasons.

The new cruise season began on Friday 15th April and saw the Symphony from Crystal Cruises be the first cruise liner to arrive at the Port. Despite the recession and tough economic times that everyone has been going through, it is impressive that Seattle’s Port has managed to remain stable and do well. Their recent figures prove that point.

The Port manager, Peter McGraw stated, “Seattle’s cruise business, currently leading all U.S. cruise homeports on the west coast in passenger volume and number of ship calls, is responsible for more than 4,447 jobs, $425 million in annual business revenue, and nearly $19 million annually in state and local tax revenues. Each vessel call generates almost $2 million for the local economy.”

Some new innovations are going to be introduced to the Disney Wonder when it comes to Seattle. Firstly, it has fitted its vessel with an advanced sewerage system, which many of Seattle’s other cruise liners don’t have. Also, by the time the Wonder is ready to live, there will be a special plug to shore system in place so that the engines can run on Port power and not rely on the ship’s engine in the port.

The Disney Wonder carries 2400 passengers with plenty of cruise ships employees to make your stay most welcoming. Aside from the 10 decks to explore, the guests and cruise liner staff are treated to a 7-night roundtrip cruise, where passengers will be stopping in Skagway, Tracy Arm, Juneau, a fjord near Juneau, and finally Ketchikan, in the Alaskan part of the trip and then calling in at Victoria, B.C. in Canada.

To learn more about the different kinds of cruise liner jobs that will be available in Seattle next year, visit Cruise Job Finder. Aside from job titles and descriptions, you will also get detailed insider information as to what it is like to work on a cruise ship and how to handle a working vacation at sea. You will find out what salary you can expect, what the working conditions are like on board, what to expect in the event of an emergency, what procedures and preparations you have to follow and much more.

You will also find out how to submit an application form correctly and write a brilliant resume that will appeal to employers. There is also a Job Board that you can use to search for your ideal cruise liner employment. It is updated frequently, so make sure you visit the website regularly.

There are tons of cruise liner jobs out there that one can apply for, but have you ever wondered about working for a cruise company without actually travelling anywhere? You don’t have to be young and free, and able to travel the world to work in the cruise ship industry – there are plenty of land based cruise jobs that you can apply for, like a cruise consultant job.

Many people have commitments and responsibilities in their home towns and need to find a local job at an office. This is possible with cruise companies, as each one will require an office in various cities around the world to answer phones, recommend packages and basically sell cruises to people.

This kind of office based position is probably more rewarding if you have experienced life on board a cruise liner. Your personal accounts can help to encourage passengers to book, plus you have the added advantage of understanding the many questions and requests that you might get as a cruise consultant.

To find cruise consultant jobs you can look at each cruise company’s website or contact them directly to find out if they are hiring, but the best way to get notified of any openings is to join a travel recruitment agency. These agencies will put you in touch with the top companies in the business, and send you for job interviews that are only in the travel and tourism industry.

Cruise consultants earn a good salary and also receive benefits at most of the cruise companies. An example of a cruise consultant job would be the following:

You would be earning a salary of between $30K and $70K per year. This is commission based of course, but you are also offered a guaranteed salary of $18K for the initial 12 month period that you are with the company. This cruise job requires you to have a good telephone manner, experience in sales, and excellent customer service skills. The benefits are really something exciting though. Even though you are based on land in an office you will still get to go on a cruise. Part of the package with this particular company includes a free cruise for educational purposes or ship visit at least once a year. You also get free onsite parking, free travel insurance, overtime, uncapped commission, and a pension plan. Your working hours are shift based and total 37.5 hours per week.

This is just an example of a current job opening in Birmingham in the UK for cruise consultants. There are many more that you can find by joining Cruise Job Finder. Once you become a member you will be able to find these job opportunities on the Job Board and also find out more about the various other shore based cruise jobs that you can get if you prefer to stay in one place. You can also learn about cruise ship and travel recruitment agencies and how you can get involved with them. Also learn how to polish up your resume and make your application stand out from the rest.

According to statistics released by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the cruise industry is looking up for the 2010 season since the recession which started subsiding towards the end of 2009. The 2009 year saw over 313,998 cruise ship jobs created which paid salaries and wages to the total of $14.23 billion. Last year’s gross output was $35.1 billion, which made a good impact on the US economy despite the global recession.

The US accounted for 66 percent of the total cruise passengers with Florida being the most popular port for embarking on cruises. Most states saw an increased cruise line spending correlating directly to the number of passengers, but due to the redirection of some cruise ships, Alaska, and Hawaii were the only two areas that experienced a decline.

“We are encouraged, not only by signs that a turnaround is in progress, but also by the industry’s history of out-performing other tourism sectors and even the national economy,” said Terry Dale, the CLIA President and CEO.

Even though the gross output was a 12.8 percent decrease from the year before, Dale suggests that if you put this into historic perspective, the cruise industry still outperforms the travel and tourism sector, and the national economy as it has done for the last decade. In fact, between 2000 and 2008 the cruise industry expenditure has increased by 85 percent.

The global recession challenges of 2009 were met by CLIA members with enthusiasm, as they reduced prices and offered incentives for cruise passengers and due to this the net capacity increased by 3.8 percent (this is the number of available bed days).

Aside from this the number of passengers who cruised in 2009 increased by 4.8 percent, showing signs of a strong consumer market.

So far, 2010 has been showing positive signs, with revenue yields up for the first time since 2008. There are also reports of increased numbers of booking for the second half of the year as opposed to the same time last year.

If you want to find out more about what it is like to work on a cruise ship and learn about the brand new liners that are taking to the seas, visiting Cruise Job Finder. Here you can become a member and learn about the plethora of cruise jobs that you can apply for. Some require experience and qualifications, while some are available for students and those just out of college.

It is the ideal way to travel around the world and earn a great salary with benefits at the same time. There are exciting opportunities with many of the cruise companies that can station you on various different ships in their fleet so that you can get the most of your cruise job experience.

With so many options, you should take the time to go through the different job descriptions on the website and make sure you check on the Job Board regularly for the latest cruise liner job openings. You can get details of how to apply and find out more about the best possible employers to work for on the website when you become a member.

The maiden voyage of Norwegian Cruise Lines newest ship, the Epic, took place from Miami on the 8th July and was met with some mixed reactions. This uniquely designed ship offers everything you can possibly imagine on a cruise ship including wave-like cabin designs instead of the ordinary box shaped ones, as well as plenty of entertainment to keep you busy, an authentic Irish pub with bowling alleys, tribute shows, and much more. The brick walls give it a distinct look, and whilst many people fault it for being ugly, one can only compare this to the iconic Eiffel Tower, which was also once considered an eyesore.

The Epic is described as impressionist and would fit in perfectly with works by famed artists such as Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. To tie this in, the Le Bistro French restaurant on board displays plenty of Picassos and Chagalls with a huge 40 thousand piece chandelier dangling over the atrium, the largest chandelier at sea.

Whilst on board you have to make time to catch all of the live shows and concerts, including Cirque Dreams, described by NCL as, “opulent eccentricity à la entertainment extravaganza presented with an array of world-class talent, Broadway acrobatics, a touch of whimsy, and tasteful participation.”

The Epic was christened by country star Reba McIntire and dares to be different, even having a 13th floor, where most or all other hotels and ships steer clear of the supposedly unlucky number and skip from 12 to 14. It weighs over 150 thousand tons and holds up to 4100 passengers. Among its unique features, the Epic boasts the largest spa at sea and also offers cabins for single passengers which is a new concept. The casino is also the largest among NCL cruise ships and for kids the water park has the largest slides. Aside from the French Bistro and Irish pub, there are 18 other dining options that you have.

It is estimated that the Epic will bring over 90 thousand people to the Miami Airport and 300 thousand people to the city every year boosting the economy by about $3 million. This will also lead to about 1000 cruise liner jobs and hospitality jobs in the state, which you can easily be part of by visiting Cruise Job Finder and becoming a member. The cruise jobs and shore based jobs are only part of this, but other hospitality and tourism jobs will also become available as more people frequent the city.

You can learn more about the different kinds of cruise liner jobs and hospitality jobs by visiting the website and joining as a member where you will gain access to this information as well as how to write your resume and fill out the applications forms professionally. There are many jobs that you can find in Miami and other ports around the world by looking at the Job Board frequently on the Cruise Job Finder website. With this continuously updated information you can make the best decision when it comes to getting a cruise ship, travel and tourism, hospitality, or resort job.

If you have the travel bug, but you still need to earn money, then working on a cruise liner is just for you. You can find plenty of cruise ship jobs which cover all industries so you can find where you are best suited. From chefs and servers, to housekeeping staff, entertainers, spa therapists, and child minders, a cruise ships offers you the biggest variety of jobs in one place so that you can make the most of your travels.

The advantages of working on any cruise liner are of course the pay and ability to see the world, but before you accept a job on a cruise liner, make sure that you check out the additional benefits that are offered. Some provide free boarding and lodgings, dental plans, and medical aid, whilst some offer free transportation to and from the docking area as well. You should take all of this into consideration before you get a cruise liner job.

Working on a cruise liner can be lots of fun, but bear in mind that it is also hard work and the hours can be long and tiring. You will work in shifts which can last up to 12 or even 15 hours, so be prepared. You will also have to wear the regulation uniform and complete all your duties whether the ship is in port or not. Some land excursions are offered to the staff as well, but if you are really interested in this, then you should look into the land excursion tour guide jobs that are available.

You can get some of the best experience working on a cruise liner as a singer or entertainer of some kind. There are job openings for actors, magicians, singers, musicians, dancers and much more, as well as stage hands, stage managers, directors, lighting technicians, DJ’s, and sound engineers.

If you are more interested in honing your hospitality skills and meeting the guests on a more formal level you can look into jobs at the hotel desk as a receptionist or the manager if you have the correct qualifications and experience. Other hospitality jobs include that of the chef and kitchen staff, servers, food and beverage mangers, bartenders, housekeepers, and butlers.

Most cruise liners have enormous shopping malls and stores where you can get jobs. If you have any kind of retail experience, even just working in your local mall, you can apply for these cruise liner positions, and do what you do best whilst travelling the world.

When you apply for any cruise liner job, you will have to understand that you will be working most of the time and you might not get to see each and every port of call, but the longer you stay in the business and the more cruises you go on, the more opportunities you will have. You should pick your itineraries carefully and look into working on different cruise ships within the same fleet to see more of the world and get a different working environment. To learn more and search the database of cruise liner jobs, you should become a member of Cruise Job Finder.

Jobs in the cruise industry are picking up as construction began on the new Cairns cruise terminal which is being built in number 3 wharf shed. The Premier, Andrew Fraser had the honor of turning the first sod on the site, and with the $ 11 million contract being awarded to Hutchinson Builder, operating out of Cairns for the last 13 years, the build is expected to be a good one.

The best part about the building of the new cruise terminal is that 84 jobs are being awarded in the construction side of things as the build progresses. The heritage shed is being transformed into a modern multi functional cruise terminal which will also bring in plenty of jobs in the cruise industry.

The onshore cruise liner jobs will include retail, hospitality, administration, and marketing jobs among others. Aside from this, the economy would improve dramatically with the tens of thousands of cruise passengers that will be visiting on the numerous cruise liners that pull into the terminal.

Mr Fraser mentioned that the build should take a year to complete. As the area is a heritage site, the construction has been very carefully planned and will be built with assistance from heritage experts from the Department of Environment and Resource Management.

As far as the construction goes, the original railway racks will be preserved entering from Wharf Street and the shed timber frames will just have modern windows installed. The other items that will be specially treated and carefully conserved include the bronze bell, the clock tower, wharf bollards, the original timber doors, the central columns, and various historical signs and markings.

New items that are to be included in the design of the cruise terminal include artworks, special landscaping and feature pavements, as well as graphic displays and interpretive signs. It is expected that the multi functional terminal will also be used as a magnificent function venue as well as an extension of the convention center.

With the vast number of opportunities that this new terminal holds for so many people, it is a good time to think about travelling to Australia. You can find that many cruise jobs are available and perhaps you can get work on the terminal or once it has been completed. If you have always wanted to travel and make money at the same time, then working for a cruise company is ideal. Although you might work onshore for a while, you can eventually broaden your horizons and apply for jobs on one of the cruise ships that visit Cairns.

The best way to get cruise ship employment is to go to Cruise Job Finder and read all the details about the various jobs you can apply for. Also be sure to take the advice about how to write a great resume and application form, so that you have the best chance of getting the job. You can find jobs easily by becoming a member and keeping an eye on the job board for an updated list of job openings in the cruise industry.

With 2010 fast approaching, many cruise companies are starting to think about expanding and making sure that there passengers are totally satisfied. To this end various new cruise terminals are being discussed including a river cruise terminal in Savannah. The cruise liners bring in about $100 per day from guests whilst the crew spends about $87 per day. This is on food, sight-seeing, shopping, and more. The new terminal planned for Savannah is obviously going to be on the small end of the scale, but is still expected to bring in thousands of Dollars to boost the local economy.

Serve Drinks on a Cruise Liner

The main aspect of building a terminal in Savannah is the location. It would have to be built somewhere that will provide adequate departure and arrival space for passengers including transportation and customs offices within close proximity. The security measures that have to be put into place are to be quite strict and this means that many shore based cruise jobs as well as ship-based cruise line employment opportunities may become available.

Aside from the new terminal planned for Savannah, other cruise jobs are set for the city of Brisbane in Australia, where one of the largest cruise ships in the world is going to be berthed from now on at the Portside Wharf. The Pacific Dawn is expected to inject a hefty sum of $44 million into the local economy once it is relocated. This, along with a second, smaller cruise liner, will create hundreds of jobs in the restaurant, retail, and hospitality industries for the future.

The Pacific Dawn carries about 2050 passengers with 696 crew members, which means that plenty of people are going to be coming and going every day. The basing of a superliner in this area is something that Carnival Australia CEO, Ann Sherry, and Queensland Tourism Minister, Peter Lawlor, were both very excited about.

Many new cruise job opportunities are going to become available thanks to these two decisions. Cruise jobs can include jobs working on board the liners in terms of crew and staff members, whilst other jobs are based on shore in the offices, working at the terminals and assisting between the shore-based teams and those on board.

There are hundreds of different kinds of cruise liner jobs that one can apply for and most of them require some experience in the hospitality industry, but you usually don’t need a degree depending on the job. Certain cruise liner jobs are the perfect way to get a head start in the career of choice and you can easily learn a great deal from working on board a cruise ship than many other places.

The other great thing about working on a cruise liner is that you can earn a lot of money while you travel. There are plenty of exotic and exciting vacation destinations that you can have the privilege of visiting whilst you work on board. Your shifts will vary and you will have to work hard, so don’t assume that you will have a lot of time to explore, but you will get days off and if you do want to make sure that you get to see different locations around the world, choose a cruise liner where there are 2 or 3 day stop-overs.

As part of its overhaul and new brand awareness, a UK sales team is being put together for Azamara Cruises. Bookings were previously done through parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises, but the new look Azamara Club Cruises is now offering exclusive bookings and exciting new options for their passengers. This is a great onshore cruise job opportunity that you can get if you enjoy working on land in the travel and tourism industry.

Azamara will not only offer its passengers a better cruise experience, but they will also create a more relaxed cruise experience, adopting the tag line, “You’ll love where we take you”. Added benefits include an offer of wine included in the cost of dinner, as well as all gratuities. To add to the relaxing atmosphere, the itineraries of the cruise ships will change slightly. The focus is going to be more about spending time at each port instead of rushing to as many as possible. This means that there will be more overnight stays at ports including Istanbul, St Petersburg, Sorrento, Singapore, and Bangkok. These changes are expected from about April 2010 when the company becomes mainly all inclusive. This will see the prices rise by 6 to 12 percent, but this will still make Azamara Club Cruises an excellent value for money choice.

The majority of people are looking forward to the new changes and especially the inclusion of Britain and Ireland in the sales for Azamara Club Cruises. This change has been a long time coming, because after its release in 2007, the global recession hit hard and Royal Caribbean’s focus was on promoting its Oasis of the Seas. Many passengers also looked to Celebrity Cruises’ new Solstice class of cruise liners for a well known affordable option.

Now, Azamara Club Cruises will be able to offer passengers excellent deals and great service on both of their ships, namely the Azamara Journey and the Azamara Quest, which each carry 694 passengers. They will visit all the top cruise destinations and their new dedicated sales team will be ideal for increasing its customer base in Ireland and Britain. Currently there is a dedicated team of eight working in the United States.

Along with the new sales team jobs, Azamara is also looking to retrain and hire butlers that provide an English style service, which will only be made available to suite passengers. You can also expect to find various other cruise ship job openings that are available in preparation for the April re-launch. If you want to learn more about the huge variety of cruise liner jobs that are available and find out what each one entails, pays, and requires in terms of qualifications, you should check out the Cruise Job Finder website. Here you can get detailed information about the industry in general and about each job type that you can get on a luxury cruise liner.
