Norwegian Cruise Lines’ newest ship, the Norwegian Breakaway is set to depart on its maiden voyage in May 2013, with bookings opening today (17th October 2011) for her launch in April 2013. The first cruise will depart from Southampton, UK on a 7 day transatlantic voyage arriving in New York where it will be based, offering year round cruises. She will embark on her maiden voyage on the 12th May 2013 travelling to Bermuda in a series of 22, 7 day cruises until October 2013. The Norwegian Breakaway can accommodate 4000 passengers and cruise liner jobs are plentiful.

Aside from the Norwegian Breakaway, her sister ship, the Norwegian Getaway, will also launch the following year in April 2014 and provide the ultimate in mega cruise liner luxury as part of Norwegian Cruise Lines series of mega ship called Project Breakaway. Many hospitality jobs are available on this cruise ship as well, so now is the perfect time to get your resume up to scratch.

The staterooms on board are magnificent and are described by Norwegian Cruise Lines as being “modern boutique hotel meets the sea” with special 2 bedroomed family villas offered along with contemporary Courtyard Penthouse suites. CEO, Kevin Sheehan commented on the design, “We’re trying to trend a little bit younger to bring a new group of people onto the ships.” These main staterooms each provide guests with a special access card to the Haven, an exclusive relaxation area consisting of a restaurant, cocktail bar, and concierge desk as well as a private spa and fitness center.

“We listened to our guests, we listened to travel agents and we listened to the press. We tried to take (into account) everything that people would say was not perfect on the Epic or what people would want and that we think would be very exciting,” said Sheehan. NCL has been working in conjunction with Tillberg Design of Sweden to design the new cabins.

The launch cruise will cost $749 per person, based on double occupancy, with tickets for the official maiden voyage in May costing $1199 per person, also based on double occupancy. It was announced that the Norwegian Breakaway would replace the smaller Star and that it would be the largest cruise liner to home port in New York. Currently it is still being built in the German Meyer Werft shipyard.

In an attempt to encourage more passengers from all over the world to explore the new ships that are set to improve the brand, Norwegian Cruise Lines has also just launched a new ad campaign with the slogan “Cruise like a Norwegian.” The video encompasses all aspects of the cruise life with different slogans, such as “Party like a Brazilian, “Surf like a Hawaiian, and “Dine like a Parisian”, ending off with the “Cruise like a Norwegian” slogan as the sail away party continues.

Sheehan explained that the new promotional material would appear on their website and other advertising spots, “The company has been working hard over the last four years to improve the brand and that they felt it was the right time to put forward this invitation to potential customers and also create interest in the brand. They are hoping that it will help people see them as one of the best possible vacation options for them.”

Cruise ship and cruise line jobs are coming to Portland, Maine. City officials made the announcement last week that there would be a new pier that has the capacity for the world’s largest cruise liners. The pier is 1200 foot long and will allow 2 large cruise liners to dock on either end at the same time. Mayor, Nicholas Mavodones, stood beside the Celebrity Summit berthed in Maine and said, “For us it means we can have twice the number of ships and twice the number of passengers and crew wandering about our streets. It’s huge for our downtown and Old Port because some businesses hire more people when cruise ships are in town. So they’re creating jobs in late summer and fall.”

At a cost of $6 million, the new pier has been discussed for more than a decade and will be funded by the transportation bond. With the recent popularity of Portland, eastern Canada and New England amongst cruise passengers, it is time that the city improved its facilities. There are 65 cruise liners scheduled to visit Portland during 2011 bringing with them over 92 thousand passengers.

The new pier can even accommodate the larger so called “mega-ships” as it will extend further into deeper waters. The Enchantment of the Seas was the first cruise ship to visit the new pier when it opened last Saturday. They will use the double berthing later in the month when 2 large cruise ships will visit Portland.

They hope to start getting in the region of Bar Harbor’s 115 cruise ships. Nicole Clegg, the City Spokeswoman said, “We’re using Bar Harbor as a guide to the number of cruise ships. They get almost double the number of cruise ships we have.” They also hope to get the Oasis of the Seas to visit, which is, to date, the largest cruise ship in the world, over 20 stories high and 5 times bigger than the Titanic.

If you want to find out more about the different kinds of cruise ship careers that you can apply for, whether they are shore based working in a port city, or on board some of the most luxurious cruise liners in the world, make sure you visit Cruise Job Finder today and become a member. Search for current cruise liner jobs and much more.

At least 200 new cruise ship jobs could be created in Galway Harbor in Ireland, beginning in the year 2013. The Galway Harbor company has €120 million plans for a deepwater Harbor development for cruise ships north of the Marina. In 2009 The Marina was recently upgraded for the Volvo Ocean race, now they are planning to host the largest cruise liners in the world. Executives from all the major cruise companies are visiting Galway Bay this month during the Galway Oyster Festival. They will visit various destinations in the West, including the Cliffs of Moher, and will listen to various presentations given about the tourism of the region and the potential for cruise liners to visit.

The Chief Executive of Galway Harbor Company even Bradshaw will give a presentation on the development of the Harbor plans on 23rd September. He also commented, “It’s a sector we really feel we can tap into and create at least 200 new jobs from. Galway Bay is famously scenic, and cruise passengers could disembark and be in a city streetscape within minutes.”

The planning application will be launched soon, and it is hoped that the construction will begin in 2013, following a hearing next year. By introducing an internationally recognized harbor here, it is hoped that business will boom, just as it has a in the port of Cork. This brings about €50 million to the southern region every year.

The delegation of cruise ship representatives will attend a dinner when they arrive in Shannon on Friday, 23 September. The next day they will visit the Cliffs of Moher and other attractions and then visit the Oyster Festival at Galway Harbor. Cruise companies like Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise lines Azamara and Crystal Cruises are all expected to be part of the delegation. They involve the trip on the Sunday after seeing all the presentations and spending time on the city’s High Street and Quay Street. So far this year, three cruise liners have visited the Galway Bay area and brought various passengers into the city. So far next year, seven cruise liners are booked.

With so much interest being shown in Galway Bay, and the huge developments taking place in the Harbor, several cruise ship jobs onshore and offshore are expected to be filled. To find out more about the different kinds of cruise liner jobs available, take a look at the Cruise Job Finder website and become a member. This website goes into detail about salary expectations, working conditions and hours, and what to expect in general, living on board a cruise liner.

There is also detailed information about the different types of shore based cruise line jobs which involve admin office duties, instructor jobs, and shore excursion managers. With the large number of passengers expected to visit Galway Bay in the near future, it is expected that the job growth in the area will also improve. To take advantage of this opportunity, and many others like it make sure you read more about it on the Cruise Job Finder site and start applying for jobs today.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines is hiring 100 call center operators for its Springfield branch in Lane County. This is good news for the people of Lane County who currently have 17,000 people without jobs and who will also experience the loss of 450 jobs at the closing of their Coburg Factory which was announced earlier this month. The unemployment rate has been extremely high in this region with a rate of 9.4 % in July, so the cruise line employment is a welcome relief.

Lane County commissioner, Sid Leiken said, “Right now, where we are with the economy, it’s always good to hear firms here locally hiring more people.”

According to Jack Roberts, the Lane Metro Partnership executive director, “the pay differential between call center jobs at good call centers (such as Royal Caribbean, Enterprise and Symantec) and manufacturing is closing. Unfortunately, that’s partly because compensation for manufacturing jobs is declining, but it also reflects a rise in entry-level pay and advancement at call centers that are eager to attract and keep top-notch workers.”

The pay will vary because of the incentive structures, but the starting salary will be around $13.11 per hour. After 90 days, employees are also eligible for health insurance. Anne-Jenell Williams, the manager of consumer outreach sales and service said, “These are full-time, regular positions being brought on in preparation of ‘wave season’, the first three months of the year, which is the cruise line’s busiest time of the year.”

“Even with an economy that doesn’t look the brightest, we still know that vacations are important to people, and the vacation value of a Royal Caribbean cruise is unparalleled,” said Williams. “We still see the phones ringing, and we need people to answer them. There’s a lot of talk of movement of (other) departments. Because we have room to grow here in Springfield we’re always considered very highly on the list of those opportunities, so we look for that to continue.”

If you want to find out more about what is required of a call center operator working for cruise companies, visit Cruise Job Finder today and become a member.

The largest cruise liner to ever be built and named in Germany, Celebrity Silhouette, was just launched at the Graasbrook Terminal in Hafen City, Hamburg on Thursday and will be one of 120 cruise liners to visit the port during 2011. Celebrity Silhouette from Celebrity Cruises cost £500 million to build and can accommodate more than 2880 passengers. It weighs in at 122,000 gross registered tons, and is more than 315 meters long.

“We are immensely proud that our German-made cruise ship will enjoy its prestigious naming ceremony in Germany – a first for Celebrity Cruises,” explained the president of Celebrity Cruises, Dan Hanrahan.

“Celebrity Cruises has a longstanding partnership with shipbuilder Meyer Werft, and the celebrations in Hamburg are a gesture of thanks to all those involved in creating Celebrity Silhouette. As a global business, it’s exciting to officially launch our ships in destinations that are major markets for our brand.”

Celebrity Silhouette has been able to offer over 21 thousand cruise jobs thus far during the ship building process, and will offer thousands more cruise ship employment once the cruise liner starts offering cruises.

The types of jobs to be offered on Celebrity Silhouette will include hospitality jobs such as chef, housekeeping and bar tending jobs, but you will also find maritime jobs are needed to keep the ship in tip top shape. Various instructor jobs are also required, along with retail store jobs and entertainment jobs among others.

Charleston, South Carolina is a historic cargo port town, and many of its residents and business owners, along with city officials are positive about the proposal of more cruise ships, bringing cruise jobs to the area that will be encouraged by the development of a cruise terminal. The State Port Authority is looking at building a new $25 million cruise liner terminal on the Union Pier waterfront property along the Charleston Harbor and Cooper River. According to Joseph P. Riley Jr. the Mayor of Charleston, at a local community forum which was attended by 400 people, “This will create jobs. There’s no issue of Charleston becoming a cruise ship Mecca. We’re not the Bahamas.”

However, there are those opposed to the idea, namely the Coastal Conservation League, who has also submitted a proposal for the area to become a multi use office space and residential redevelopment, as per the Waterfront development in Chicago. “Very few cities in the world have dedicated prime waterfront property to cruise operations,” said Dana Beach, the group’s executive director.

Some of the residents do have problems with the development of a cruise ship terminal, citing traffic congestion, noise pollution, road closures, and tourist traffic as some of the reasons against the proposal. One resident, Leslie Scanlan commented that, “It’s an architectural invasion. A cruise ship is taller than the city steeples.” She justified this by referring to one of the longstanding city rules that new buildings should be shorter than the tallest of the church steeples in the city.

This historic city is not new to tourists, and just as the horse drawn carriage and bus tours are regulated, residents feel that the cruise ships should be regulated as well. Currently the plans for the terminal will increase the number of cruise ships from 90 to 104.

The CEO of the States Port Authority, James Newsome III, disagrees, saying, “I don’t know of a major port in the world that has a codified limit on the amount of business they can do. That would be bad for the port. Cruise lines are a niche market for the port, he said. “There are 4.5 million tourists in the city (annually). The cruise endeavor that we’re talking about is only 200,000 passengers. It’s in scale.”

The Preservation Society of Charleston is concerned about leaning too far in the direction of tourists and neglecting the city’s rich heritage. Evan Thompson, the executive director of the Society commented, “The sites that visitors come to see are houses that were built by multimillionaires in the 18th and 19th centuries and require major investments of private capital to maintain. We need to sustain and be vigilant about our quality of life and be sure we don’t tip the balance. We don’t want people to think that Charleston is for tourists only.”

There is no doubt that the new cruise terminal will bring lots of cruise employment to the area, from cruise line jobs on land, to hospitality jobs, to terminal construction jobs, and tour guide jobs. All that remains is for the terminal to be finalized and then new cruise line jobs will become a reality, and you can start getting your resume sorted out and learning about all the different kinds of jobs you could be applying for.

There are plenty of jobs you can learn about on the Cruise Job Finder website, and if you want to start applying for any of these cruise jobs, tour guide jobs, or yacht crewing jobs, you can do that easily by becoming a member and visiting the Job Board.

After choosing Vancouver as their departure point, Disney Cruises has decided to give runner up, Seattle, another chance and will change the point of departure in 2012, offering plenty of cruise ship positions in the process. Out of 18 cruises, 14 of them, aboard the Disney Wonder, will leave from the Port of Seattle. The change of plan is partly due to Seattle receiving the highest volumes of cruise tourism over the last few months, but mainly due to the lower costs and convenience of having the Sea Tac International Airport run by the Port as well. Although, Disney did not go in the specifics of their decision, Seattle’s Port representative claimed that these are the apparent reasons.

The new cruise season began on Friday 15th April and saw the Symphony from Crystal Cruises be the first cruise liner to arrive at the Port. Despite the recession and tough economic times that everyone has been going through, it is impressive that Seattle’s Port has managed to remain stable and do well. Their recent figures prove that point.

The Port manager, Peter McGraw stated, “Seattle’s cruise business, currently leading all U.S. cruise homeports on the west coast in passenger volume and number of ship calls, is responsible for more than 4,447 jobs, $425 million in annual business revenue, and nearly $19 million annually in state and local tax revenues. Each vessel call generates almost $2 million for the local economy.”

Some new innovations are going to be introduced to the Disney Wonder when it comes to Seattle. Firstly, it has fitted its vessel with an advanced sewerage system, which many of Seattle’s other cruise liners don’t have. Also, by the time the Wonder is ready to live, there will be a special plug to shore system in place so that the engines can run on Port power and not rely on the ship’s engine in the port.

The Disney Wonder carries 2400 passengers with plenty of cruise ships employees to make your stay most welcoming. Aside from the 10 decks to explore, the guests and cruise liner staff are treated to a 7-night roundtrip cruise, where passengers will be stopping in Skagway, Tracy Arm, Juneau, a fjord near Juneau, and finally Ketchikan, in the Alaskan part of the trip and then calling in at Victoria, B.C. in Canada.

To learn more about the different kinds of cruise liner jobs that will be available in Seattle next year, visit Cruise Job Finder. Aside from job titles and descriptions, you will also get detailed insider information as to what it is like to work on a cruise ship and how to handle a working vacation at sea. You will find out what salary you can expect, what the working conditions are like on board, what to expect in the event of an emergency, what procedures and preparations you have to follow and much more.

You will also find out how to submit an application form correctly and write a brilliant resume that will appeal to employers. There is also a Job Board that you can use to search for your ideal cruise liner employment. It is updated frequently, so make sure you visit the website regularly.
