    In the wake of the huge success following the Fifa 2010 World Cup, South Africa is ready to take on bigger and better things, and are talking about putting in a bid for the 2020 Olympic Games. Gideon Sam, the president of the South Africa Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee confirmed that South Africa would be bidding on either the 2020 or the 2024 Olympic Games. This would also be the first time that these historic games would be held on the African Continent. According to Sam, the International Olympic Committee is very eager to give developing countries the opportunity to host the Olympic Games. “I can’t say that we will be going for 2020 or 2024, but we will be guided by the sporting movement in this country as to what we are going to do,” he concluded.
