If you want to be involved in sports as far as helping players is concerned, then a health and fitness career is something that you can go after. There are plenty of opportunities for health and fitness jobs where professional sportsmen and women, as well as amateur athletes require training and conditioning. In fact, wherever you have sports and people that play sports, even on a hobby level, there will be the need for sports injury therapists, personal trainers for various sporting disciplines, health and fitness professionals, strength and conditioning coaches, and more.

Some fitness jobs require training and qualifications, but many also require an intricate knowledge of the sport in question. This means that you can use your passion and love of a particular sport to help others achieve their goals, in a situation where you might not have been able to, or you have already retired.

All sports put excessive strain on the human body and to protect it, sportsmen and women require training. This includes cardiovascular exercises, stretching routines, muscle strengthening and toning, and target body conditioning. Aside from understanding how the human body works, you will also have to understand the pressures that certain sports place on certain areas of the body.

For example, if you are training a tennis player, you will work primarily on forearm and tricep strength, agility, as well as wrist strengthening. The ankles and knees also take a pounding on the tennis court, so these ligaments, tendons and muscles should also receive attention.

The great thing about working in health and fitness is that you have plenty of places where you can work and you can travel while you work as well. Cruise liners are always looking for professional fitness experts to work with the passengers on any sports related injuries or training required. You can also find sports physiotherapy jobs in college athletic departments and professional sports teams where injuries are commonplace. Another option you have is to get a job at your local gym or sports center, which will give you an opportunity to work with amateur athletes. If you work your way up in health and fitness careers, you can even make private house calls, which can see you earning a lot of money.

When you are choosing a sports career in health and fitness, here are a few of the top options that you have:

Clinical Exercise Specialist Jobs – Clinical working with severely injured athletes, extremely obese, or elderly.

Physical Therapist Jobs – Testing and measuring the patients’ strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.

Sport Specific Trainer Jobs – Running plyometric and balance exercises to enhance their speed and agility.

Strength and Conditioning Coach Jobs – Develop year-around strength and conditioning programs as well as determining appropriate sports-specific regimens, dietary needs, and overseeing weight training facilities.

Athletic Trainer Jobs – Trainers specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

Personal Athletic Trainer Jobs – Personal trainers work one-on-one with clients and help clients assess their level of physical fitness while setting reachable fitness goals.

Nutritionist and Dietician Jobs – Nutritionist jobs don’t require any specialized training while education is necessary to become a dietician.

The day to day activities of someone in the health and fitness field will vary depending on where you work, who you work with, and how your job is structured. You can get all the details and find out more by becoming a member of the Sports Career Finder.

Aside from job descriptions and details, you will also get to learn about creating a resume and sending in application forms for various health and fitness industry jobs.

You can work as a designer, production manager, media liaison, director, factory worker doing packaging, and much more. If you love sports and you want to get involved in the manufacture of equipment like boats, clubs, skis, rackets, bats, balls, or sports products like energy drinks, clothing, and others, you should find out what you need to do. You can get all the details on the website and you can then also look into other types of sports jobs that might peak your interest.

Other careers in sports that you can look at include working in sports marketing and media, where you can be a TV presenter, sports announcer, or sports journalist. You can also work in sports more directly as a coach, assistant coach, professional player, or team manager. Agents are also high paying sports jobs where you have to get certain players on your books that you manage. You will earn a commission from this.

In the professional sporting arena you have a choice of various jobs such as head coach, assistant coach, manager of a sports team, sports marketer, and others. One of the jobs that tend to be forgotten is that of the fitness instructors, trainers, and health professionals. They keep the athletes in tip top condition and are always on hand during matches and games. There are various health and fitness jobs that you can apply for if you are interested in a sports career.

Physiotherapist

Every sports team, man, and woman needs a physiotherapist. Your job will be to maintain the proper working function of the body ensuring that the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints are all in perfect shape. Many athletes put their bodies through a lot more than normal people, so they require extra care and treatment for injuries and to prevent injuries. That is where your job on a sports team is imperative. You can find physiotherapy courses throughout the country and also study through a university for a degree.

Fitness Trainer

All sports, professional or at college level, require trainers. These individuals are there to not only provide accurate training methods and instructions based on the specific sport, but also encourage and give advice about correct eating, maintenance and more. Your fitness trainer job in sports will require you to work long hours with the teams or individuals, and give them exercises for the certain muscle groups that their sport makes the most use of. You also have to work with injuries and train to prevent injuries, as these could end an athlete’s career. You have to complete a degree or course to become a sports fitness trainer.

Nutritionist

On a sports team you will find that many hire nutritionists. This job will be specifically to check the diet of the team, highlight any problems, and correct any weight issues. If the sport in question requires the athletes to be more muscular, the nutritionist can work with the fitness trainer and recommend a higher protein diet for example. In sports nutritionists are very important in making sure that the athletes eat the correct number of calories so prevent illnesses and undernourishment whilst at the same time, keeping their weight within a healthy range. Sports nutritionists have to have a certificate or diploma in nutrition and dietetics from a reputable school or college.

If you want to find out more about what is required for sports fitness and health jobs and to start applying for jobs, become a member of Sports Career Finder today.
